Through the end of 2017, I am taking a leave of absence from private practice. During this time I will continue to be available for Mentoring and Professional Development Consultation for Licensed Massage Therapists, as well as remain an active faculty member at East West College of Massage where I teach on a broad range of somatic topics.
I will be back seeing clients in my private practice at the first of the year, at which time I am excited to see all of you and share my new training and techniques with you. The last 10 years offering massage and helping people move through and out of pain has taught me about the power of human will, and the importance of honoring our healing process. For the trained massage therapist, it can be a unique challenge to face a health challenge and apply our training and compassion to ourselves. I am now faced with that challenge. I have a small medical issue that needs surgery to repair, and that requires that I not perform massage during my healing phase. This is not a life threatening endeavor and for that I am grateful. Like most challenges, this one has launched an entirely new area of study for me, a new access point for understanding and being in awe of the human body. So, it's time for me to 'walk the walk' and place my healing at the forefront these next several weeks. I will miss offering massage during this time, but I am comforted in knowing that I will return feeling stronger and healthier very soon.
While I am taking a temporary leave from actively offering massage, you will see a growth in my mentoring practice as well as increased opportunities to study with me! Teaching about massage and somatic approaches to the body is one of my great joys. I am hard at work building new Continuing Education models, as well as creative travel and study opportunities for somatic and movement therapists! Please sign up for my newsletter if you would like updates.
Peace and Health to you.
